The 77th Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid is now upon us in Southwest Michigan. Events surrounding the tournament got underway with a waffle breakfast over the weekend, and the competition will start Thursday. Championship Director Ryan Ogle joined WSJM’s Pat Moody to talk about the upgraded fan experience this year.

“We’ve got a lot of new structures,” Ogle says, adding the community showcase and community shop is the biggest one.

“We really listened to the community, how can we get them more involved, elevate the spectator experience. I believe we’ve done just that. It’s really exciting to see.”

Ogle went on to say there are new concession areas and options this year. “You look at the food trucks we’re bringing in from the community. (We’ve got) Larks Bar-B-Que and Baja Gringo Tacos at Jean Klock Park. We’ve also got upgraded viewing structures, whether that’s the 17th bleacher or the 19th hole”

Two-time defending champion Colin Montgomerie will shoot for his third straight championship this week. The Senior PGA Championship will return to Harbor Shores in 2018.
