Lions Park Beach To Get New Playground Equipment

There will soon be some new features at Lions Park Beach in St. Joseph. On Monday, the city commission approved the purchase of $100,000 worth of playground equipment. Deputy Director of Public Works Greg Grothous says as staff considered different options, they consulted the student council at Lincoln Elementary School, who proved to be quite helpful.

“I was hopeful to get some good information out of them, and at least get guidance about where we’re going,” Grothous told WSJM. “The kids really had great questions. They were insightful. They really looked at it. They took it seriously.”

The new playground equipment is designed to resemble the St. Joseph lighthouses. Grothous says most of it should be installed by July 4.
