Police are investigating after an 18-year-old Benton Harbor High School student was found dead Thursday morning. The body of Grady Manns was discovered in a field near Empire and McAllister Avenues around 7:15 a.m. The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety says it’s looking into the case as a homicide, although it won’t state the cause of death yet. Police believe Manns was killed Wednesday night or Thursday morning. The death caused Benton Harbor High School to be placed on lockdown Thursday morning, and the school is planning to dismiss students for the day early. The death also caused Eau Claire schools to be placed on lockdown as a precaution. No arrests have been made in the case, and police ask anyone with information to call the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety at 927-0293, or Crimestoppers.
