Congressman Fred Upton says the task now facing Donald Trump is to build up a credible team to make his case for why he should be elected to the White House. Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee for president this week when he beat Ted Cruz and John Kasich in the Indiana primary, causing them to drop out. The next day, Upton told us Trump has to establish a message.

“We’re going to need to see Mr. Trump begin to assemble folks that he’ll be able to count on so he can spread a positive message to actually be able to govern,” Upton said.

When asked if he’s backing Trump, Upton said only that he hasn’t met the real estate mogul yet. Upton says Trump will face a “good test” between now and July, when the GOP convention is held in Cleveland.
