The man charged in a series of rapes in Benton Harbor last summer has been found guilty on all counts. The Berrien County Prosecutor’s office says 42-year-old Marcus Stewart has been convicted in three separate incidents. He faced three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of assault by strangulation, one count of attempted assault by strangulation, and one count of home invasion. The assaults were reported over a roughly month-long span last July and August, and Stewart was arrested in September. Police say he stalked some of his victims on the streets, and in one case, broke into a home to assault a victim. The jury on Thursday deliberated for about an hour before coming back with its verdict following a three day trial. Stewart faces up to life in prison when he’s sentenced on June 13. Due to previous convictions, he faces a minimum sentence of 25 years.
