Gas prices continue to climb around the state. Triple-A Michigan says the statewide average is up 13¢ to start the week at $2.30. The lowest prices can be found in the Upper Peninsula in Marquette at $2.23, while Jackson and Lansing drivers are paying the most at $2.37 per gallon. Locally, the auto club says the Benton Harbor/St. Joseph area is averaging $2.34, up 15¢ from a week ago, but 22¢ lower than this time last year. Triple-A says demand continues to surpass last year’s levels, but we’re still expected to pay less for gas this summer than any time in the last decade.
