Boil Water Advisory For Part Of Benton Township

A boil water advisory is in effect for part of Benton Township. Treasurer Debbie Boothby says the advisory applies to Higman Park, hills 1 and 2. That covers about 60 homes. A lightning strike on Sunday night caused a hole to be broken in a township water main. The main has been repaired, and while it’s being brought back online, state rules dictate a boil water advisory must be put into effect. Residents in Higman Park, hills 1 and 2, are reminded they should boil any water to be used for drinking or cooking through Thursday of this week. The water is safe for bathing. Township staff went through the neighborhood Monday afternoon informing any residents who were home at the time.
