Hartford Stabbing Suspect Charged

A 39-year-old Hartford man has been formally charged with three felonies for allegedly stabbing a 61-year-old woman multiple times in the chest and back. Charlotte Young survived the assault and is now listed in stable condition. Daniel Woodruff is charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and home invasion and is being held in the Van Buren County Jail on $3 million bond. Police say that Woodruff, who lives in a different building at the McDowell Senior Complex, slipped in through Young’s unlocked door early Tuesday morning, stabbed her as she slept on her sofa and stole her purse. Woodruff could get up to life if convicted on the most serious charge.
