A fire inside a garage at a Niles Township home has claimed one life. Firefighters were called to a home in the 24-hundred block of Rebecca Lane just before 6 p.m. yesterday on a report of a fire and explosions. Investigators say it appears the homeowner was the victim, and no one else lived there. Firefighters kept the flames contained to the garage, but some of the siding on the home did melt from the heat. The state fire marshal’s office and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the cause. The victim’s name has not been released.
