Work will soon begin on a new police and fire station in Covert Township. Police Chief J. Allen says the 2.8 million dollar facility will better serve the needs of both departments once it’s finished and they’re able to move in, hopefully by the end of the year.
“The police station will have an upgraded interview room, a report-writing room, and offices for the staff and much needed storage for equipment and other things,” Allen told WSJM.
Allen says the old facility no longer could meet either department’s needs. It’ll be located downtown, on M-140 next to the post office. The facility will also be used to house local ambulances.
