Alex Perez Arrested In Colorado; Amber Alert Canceled

The suspect in a double murder and an Amber Alert in Hagar Township is in custody in the Georgetown, Colorado. Michigan State Police say they were informed at 3:30 a.m. that Alex Perez was arrested in Colorado, and his two children who were the subjects of the Amber Alert are safe.  It’s not known how long the victims who were found in a home on M-63 in Hagar Township overnight had been dead, but police believe autopsies will reveal that information. The Amber Alert has been canceled.

Michigan State Police Lieutenant Mike Dawson says a relative became concerned after not seeing anyone at the home and found the two bodies after climbing through an open window. The young girls, four-year-old Nova and three-year-old Luna Perez, are now in protective custody in Colorado. Their father is awaiting extradition back to Michigan to face charges. Dawson says they believe he was trying to take the girls to California. He added the identities of the two victims found inside the home have not yet been confirmed.
