Berrien County Road Commission Cleans Up After Monday Storm

Crews with the Berrien County Road Commission are now able to rest a bit, since cleanup from Monday’s storm is finished. Road Commission Managing Director Louis Csokasy says the county’s 48 plows were out and about all day Monday, and had to skip the local roads to keep main roads clear.

“We only got across the primaries,” Csokasy told WSJM. “We just kept going back and over the primary roads. So, yeah. It was a challenge.”

Csokasy says south county was worse that farther up north. He also notes the road commission has closed a bridge because of a large tree that fell, damaging it. The small bridge is on Olive Branch Road near Galien, at the Galien/Bertrand Township line. The tree knocked a hole in the bridge deck and damaged a support beam. A detour has been posted.
