Winter Storm Watch In Effect For Van Buren County

A winter storm watch has been issued for parts of southwest Michigan for Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service says freezing rain could develop in Van Buren and Allegan Counties Monday, continuing through the evening, with a total ice accumulation of a quarter to a half inch possible. It adds winds of up to 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, are possible. The conditions could lead to up to a half inch of ice accumulation, as well as ice on trees and power lines, along with power outages. The weather service advises everyone to make sure they have enough gas for generators and deicing material for driveways and sidewalks. Hazardous driving conditions are also likely.
