Most Consumers Energy Outages Now Repaired

Consumers Energy has had crews working nonstop since high wind and storms early Thursday knocked out power to over 150 thousand customers in west Michigan. Most already have had their power restored, but those were the easy repairs, they will get more difficult and more remote as the utility goes down their priority list. Consumers spokesman Brian Wheeler says repairs accelerated on Christmas Day as they were reinforced by 300 crews from out of state who arrived on Christmas Eve, that and the weather. Most of the homeowners and businesses that lost power have gotten it back. All of the customers in the southernmost counties had their power restored by Christmas, and Consumers Energy is no longer reporting any outages in Allegan County.. Wheeler says there will be a few isolated and remote outages that may not be addressed until Monday, but most should have the lights back on by late Sunday.
