Consumers Energy Continuing Restorations Through The Weekend

Storms that brought winds as high as 60 miles per hour knocked down about 100 Consumers Energy power poles around west Michigan this week, and even more power lines broke, leaving over 100 thousand in the dark. Consumers Spokesperson Roger Morgenstern warns people about the danger of going near a broken power line.

“If they see a downed power line, they need to give a call to 911,” Morgenstern told WSJM. “They should stay at least 25 feet away, and don’t assume that it is de-energized, that it is dead. Assume that it is live.”

Morgenstern says if you see a power line broken in the road, you should not drive over it, as you never know how high the voltage is. Some residents of Allegan County were expected to remain withouth power through Saturday.
