Over 660 thousand dollars will be going to some court programs in Van Buren County, thanks to the Michigan Court Administrative Office. The grants announced this week will go toward running the Drug Treatment Court, the Swift and Sure Sanctions Probation Program, and the Adult and Youth Recovery Courts. Each program is designed to help prevent offenders from winding up back in jail after they’ve served their sentence. Court officials say 120 thousand dollars is going to the Drug Treatment Court, more than 280 thousand is going to the Swift and Sure Sanctions Probation Program, and the Adult and Youth Recovery Courts are getting more than 95 thousand dollars each. The county applies for state grants to run those programs each year.
