A hostile takeover was avoided by Perrigo, but the company will be restructuring and that means job losses in West Michigan. The generic drugmaker has confirmed reports that about 100 jobs will be cut in Allegan County as it trims its global workforce by roughly 800. The revamping is meant to make the company more profitable and more attractive to stockholders on its own. Perrigo officials say over half of the jobs to be cut are in South Carolina. The firm moved its corporate headquarters from Allegan to Dublin, Ireland within the past few years to take advantage of more favorable Irish business taxes.
