Whirlpool Receives High Marks In Equality Report

Whirlpool Corporation has received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign 2016 Corporate Equality Index. The annual rankings assess how major companies in the United States commit to diversity and inclusion, and Whirlpool has received a perfect 100 for the 13th year in a row. Specifically, the CET looks at how employers treat LGBT workers, focusing on non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. CTE says that, for 2016, 321 out of the Fortune 500 ranked businesses have official CEI ratings, with the average score being 88. Whirlpool says that its latest CTE ranking is “a distinction received for doing what’s right for our gay and lesbian employees and community.”
