Governor Snyder is suspending efforts to bring Syrian refugees to Michigan following terrorist attacks in Paris. Some Syrian refugees have already arrived in Michigan and the governor had supported bringing more, but on Sunday said they were putting those efforts on hold until the U.S. Department of Homeland Security completes a review of security clearances and procedures. The decision to close the state’s borders follows deadly attacks in Paris Friday night, in which 129 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured. A Syrian passport was found near the body of one of the suicide bombers. The Islamic extremist group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
