Prices at southwest Michigan gas pumps might fall under the $2 mark this weekend. Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy.com says prices are down to an average of $2.11 in Van Buren County and $2.16 in Berrien County, and he wouldn’t be surprised if they fall even more.

Gas prices in the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph area have fallen 19¢ in the last week. DeHaan says weakness in the oil market should push prices even lower. He adds crude inventories remain high, but says other factors are at play.

Another factor is refinery maintenance is beginning to wrap up. GasBuddy pegs the statewide average price at $2.23 as of this morning.
