A new kind of stop sign has been installed at a Berrien County intersection. Road Commission Managing Director Louis Csokasy says that it’s at Napier Avenue and Park Road in Bainbridge Township, and it features several L.E.D. lights designed to make the sign more noticeable.

The L.E.D. stop sign was installed at the intersection after a fatal crash, with the road commission thinking it could help prevent more crashes there. It’s the first stop sign of its kind in the county, and Csokasy says it’s unlikely too many like it will be installed elsewhere because the sign cost 27 hundred dollars. Still, he says there are places where they’d be useful.
