Pumpkin Chunking Challenge In Buchanan This Weekend

This weekend brings an event that will not only raise money for a Berrien County domestic violence shelter, but also give participants a chance to smash some pumpkins. Safe Shelter for Domestic Violence is holding Launching Hope with a Pumpkin Chunking Challenge on Saturday at Nimby Pond in Buchanan. Joseph Goepfrich, with Child and Family Services of Southwest Michigan, says you can launch a pumpkin for distance.

Other activities will include a pumpkin decorating contest, bean bag tossing, live music, a maze, and a hog roast dinner. The money raised Saturday goes to support he Safe Shelter in Benton Harbor, which protects victims from domestic abusers who they’ve left. Admission will cost five dollars per adult, although it will cost extra for the hog roast dinner. Launching Hope runs from four to seven pm.
