Anniversary Celebration This Weekend At Watervliet Fruit Exchange

The Watervliet Fruit Exchange will celebrate its 75th anniversary this weekend, and the whole community is invited. Retail Manager Tammy Watkins says that there’s lots of fun planned for Saturday.

Listen:

That’s not to mention people making apple sauce and refreshments. The Watervliet Fruit Exchange, located on Red Arrow Highway, was started by a group of local farmers in 1940. They pooled their resources to have the place built, but then it burned down a few years later. So, they rebuilt it, using steel and brick the second time. In 1965, some additions were made, but otherwise it’s the same old building. Saturday’s celebration will be from 10 am to two pm.
