Snyder To Appoint New Justice

An announcement will be made this morning on the successor to Justice Mary Beth Kelly on the Michigan Supreme Court. Governor Snyder has called a press conference in Lansing for 11 a.m. to reveal his pick as Justice Kelly steps down to return to private law practice. According to Capitol insider subscription news services MIRSNews and Gongwer, University of Michigan law professor Joan Larsen is the top candidate. Justice Kelly’s term runs through 2018, but the appointee would have to run for reelection next year to complete the full term.
