24 acres of land has been added to Love Creek County Park in Berrien Center thanks to a donation from a local couple. Berrien County Parks Director Brian Bailey says that Mr. and Mrs. Dale Simpson owned the land, located right next to the park, and essentially sold it to the county for much less than its appraised value.

The land is now park of Love Creek County Park, and Bailey says that plans are being drafted to expand the trail system to it so it can be used for cross country skiing this winter. He says it’ll also be useful for hiking. The acquisition bridges a gap that had existed at Love Creek that previously forced the county to lease land in order to allow for cross country skiing.
