New Details In Probe Of Corrections Officers

New information is coming to light in an ongoing investigation into four Berrien County corrections officers. Sources have told WSJM News the four officers under investigation were having sexual relationships with former inmates once the women were released from jail. Two under investigation were union reps, and have resigned. Other local media outlets are also reporting the officers gave the women – who were on probation – money in exchange for sexual favors. Our sources tell us the money may have come from union accounts. Berrien County Undersheriff Chuck Heit tells our newsroom they are unable to comment due to the ongoing investigation. Heit says once complete, they will send their report to the prosecutor’s office, but there is no timeframe for that. We have also contacted the Police Officers Labor Council for comment, and have not yet heard back.
