Police Hit The Streets in Benton Harbor To Light Up The City

Police officers hit the streets Wednesday night in the Benton Harbor area to meet with residents in several neighborhood and hand out light bulbs in an effort to help make the community safer. The Light Up the City initiative included state police, the Berrien County Sheriffs Department, and Benton Township police who went door to door. Michigan State Police Trooper Jesse Binns was among those at Blossom Acres Apartments:

Binns said that people were receptive, and also gave police some tips about how they could better protect the community. The 300 light bulbs distributed were given to police by American Electric Power and Home Depot.
