AAA: Michigan Gas Prices Down 32¢ In Past Week

Michigan’s gas prices are down sharply over the past week thanks to the restarting of the BP oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana. According to Triple-A Michigan, the state’s average price is down 32¢ a gallon from last week to an average of $2.52. The price is $1.08 lower than the same time a year ago. The state’s cheapest gas can be found in the Upper Peninsula, where Marquette drivers pay $2.41 and the highest prices are in the Lansing and East Lansing area at $2.61.

Locally, AAA Michigan puts the average price in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph at $2.58, down 29¢ from last week and 99¢ lower than the prices were a year ago. In South Haven, GasBuddy.com spotters note the lowest price is $2.18 at  Murphy USA and Village Xpress , with a high of $2.39. Most stations in South Haven are at $2.20, but the city is not included in AAA Michigan’s gas price survey.
