40 Thousand Expected To Take Part In Mackinac Bridge Walk

Around 40 thousand people are expected to walk the five mile span of the Mackinac Bridge this Labor Day. It’s the 58th year for the annual event, and Bridge Authority Secretary Bob Sweeney says the crowd’s expected to be bigger than usual:

Sweeney says that if you’re thinking of heading up north for the bridge walk this year, you should remember to give yourself a little extra time as Michigan State Police do bag searches. The bridge walk will begin at seven am, and last through about ten am. During the event, traffic is confined to the westbound side of the bridge.
