Kalamazoo Man To Face Several Charges In Van Buren County After Trying To Elude Deputies

Several charges await a 23-year-old Kalamazoo man once he is out of Bronson Hospital for trying to get away from Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies early this morning in Bangor Township. The sheriff’s office tells us officers pulled over the Dodge Charger around 1:30 a.m. after receiving a “be on the lookout” alert for armed robbery suspects out of the Kalamazoo area. The passenger in the car, a 24-year-old man from South Haven, was being questioned when the driver decided to try to get away and took off at a high speed before losing control and rolling the car. He was ejected before it hit a tree. The suspect is in critical but stable condition in Kalamazoo. He faces charges of a CCW violation, fleeing and eluding and open alcohol. The passenger is jailed for having open intoxicants in the car. The names of the men have not been released.
