A Union Pier area realtor is up for a national award for work that he’s done to help preserve open space in Berrien County. The Southwest Michigan Association of Realtors says that George S. Lucas is one of ten finalists for the national association’s Good Neighbor Award due to his service as board president of Chikaming Open Lands, a group that heads conservation efforts, including along the Lake Michigan shoreline. It says that under his leadership, the organization has grown from a small volunteer outfit to a land trust with four employees and 550 member households that’s protected almost 16 hundred acres of natural resources in Berrien County. On September 30th, five winners will be named and receive a ten thousand dollar grant, as well as national media exposure for their charity. You can vote for Lucas at the below URL.
