The Watervliet Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Ken Gustafson, who died Wednesday at his home. Bridgman Police Chief Dan Unruh calls the officer known to friends “Gus” a “one-of-a-kind GREAT guy” who didn’t deserve to die so young. Gustafson worked for the Coloma Police Department for several years, and led that department for a time after the death of Chief Ken Unruh, the father of the Bridgman chief. Funeral arrangements are pending, and no other details about his passing have been announced. Gustafson was a 1972 graduate of St. Joseph High School, and tributes to him have been posted on the Facebook group page for that graduating class since late last night.
