Construction Project Planned For Marquette Woods Road

Traffic cones will soon be out along a portion of Marquette Woods Road in Stevensville, as the Berrien County Road Commission on August 31st will begin a two month resurfacing project. Road commission engineer Brian Berndt says that they’re redoing the road between Saint Joseph Avenue and South Roosevelt. It will affect traffic.
“We’re going to maintain eastbound traffic at all times,” Berndt told WSJM. “Then, for anybody wanting to go westbound, there will be a detour from Marquette Woods Road south down to John Beers Road, west over to Saint Joseph Avenue, and then north on Saint Joseph Avenue.”

Berndt says that they’ll resurface the road, and also add sidewalks and paved shoulders to the side of the road. The project cost is 600 thousand dollars, and work will wrap up in the end of October. You can see a map of the area in question below:
