MI Lawmaker Caught In Scandal Will Not Resign

From the Associated Press — An embattled but apologetic Michigan lawmaker who had an extramarital affair with another legislator is not resigning. State Representative Cindy Gamrat announced her decision Friday, a week after the scandal broke. The Republican from Plainwell says she made poor decisions in her personal life but did nothing wrong in her role as a lawmaker.She and State Representative Todd Courser, of Lapeer, are subjects of a House investigation into whether they misused public resources to hide their relationship and fired an aide who refused to help. Courser says he orchestrated a false email claiming he had sex with a male prostitute to deflect attention from the affair. He says he was being blackmailed.
