The Michigan Department of Transportation is rolling out some traffic cameras to highways in southwest Michigan, although it could be a while before they’re in use. MDOT’s Nick Schirripa says that road cams are proving to be useful in Detroit and Grand Rapids when it comes to responding to traffic conditions.

You may have notice some of the cameras on poles along I-94 in Berrien County already. Eventually, when they’re live, you’ll be able to access them via MDOT’s website, and observe traffic conditions in real time. Schirripa says getting them online can be tricky, though, so it could be several more months before you can use them.
