The school board has voted to leave the conference over concerns that the Tigers are no longer able to compete against the likes of St. Joe, Lakeshore, Kalamazoo Central and more. There is also the immediate issue of the football team, which does not have a coach. Acting Superintendent Gregory Weatherspoon says first, they need an athletic director and he understands the concern.

Weatherspoon said there have been talks with several possible football coaches, including former St. Joseph coach Elliot Uzelac. He’s hoping to have the matter settled soon. As for the athletic director job, he tells WSJM News they’re working on it.
