Five southwest Michigan students have an associate degree from Lake Michigan College, and they haven’t even graduated from high school yet. LMC Niles Bertrand Crossing executive dean Barbara Craig says they are the latest high achievers to go through the Early College Academy.

Listen:

Victoria Chapman of Brandywine High School, Victoria Mueller, Hayley Smith and James Ward of Buchanan High School, and homeschooler Aaron Capps of Berrien Springs have all earned their degrees. Capps received an Associate in Science degree, while the other four earned Associate in Arts degrees. They all began taking classes at LMC during their junior year of high school, and also attended classes in the summer.

Listen:

Mueller will attend Defiance College in Ohio, Smith was awarded the Emerald scholarship at Eastern Michigan University, Ward will go to Western Michigan, and Chapman will go to Michigan State. LMC has not indicated if Capps plans to transfer to another college or university.
