Pat Moody is one of those strange people who goes to work when it’s dark in the morning and comes home in the dark at night after logging an incredibly full and busy day. He has been a morning presence in Michigan’s Great Southwest since walking through the doors of WSJM Radio in February of 1973. That’s 43-years and counting.

His has been on a tremendous ride creating a multi-media presence across the region. As host of Moody in the Morning, Pat has worked hard to kick-start your day with a little humor, some vital information, and hopefully the goodwill that makes this area the perfect place to call home. In 2015, his friend and co-host, Jim Gifford, retired from the show.

In addition to his radio role, Pat is the creator and sole author of MoodyOnTheMarket.com, a venture that started out as a weekly business column in a publication called MailMax launched more than 15 years ago. That direct-mailed publication is dispatched to more than 42,000 homes in the area weekly, and the web venture enjoyed more than a quarter-million page views in less than 6-months upon launch. MoodyOnTheMarket.com provides substantive coverage of the business community across SW Michigan updated multiple times daily as is warranted by breaking news and exclusive stories often found nowhere else.

It is not uncommon to occasionally spot Pat on TV as well, either moderating community issue forums, hosting Public TV pledge drives, or being interviewed himself as a newsmaker following his 20-year dual career as Executive Vice President of the Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce, a full-time post from which he retired at the end of summer in 2013.

Moody serves and has served a broad array of civic organizations including current terms on the national board of the Association of Public Television Stations in Washington D.C., the WNIT Public Television board of directors in South Bend, IN, the St. Joseph Today Board, the Executive Committee of the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, and the Lighthouse Forever Fund Committee to preserve the St. Joseph North Pier Lighthouses. He has also served long terms in the past on the Lake Michigan College Board of Trustees, United Way of Southwest Michigan, the Lakeland Health Foundation, and the St. Joseph Development Fund among many others.

Pat is a Certified Radio Marketing Consultant and a 6-year graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce through the University of Arizona.

He was cited for more than a dozen years as the Herald Palladium newspaper’s “Reader’s Choice” for Favorite Radio Personality.

He is an avid, free-lance, published photographer and a voracious reader. His wife Carol is Corporate Board Liaison in the Legal Department at Whirlpool Corporation. His sons, Jason & Peter, are accomplished musicians who have enjoyed critical acclaim and a modicum of commercial success in the recording industry. Jason works in the IT industry in Minneapolis, MN and Peter is a professional bartender in Steamboat Springs, CO.
