15 Benton Harbor Grads Get Scholarships From Texas Southern University

Texas Southern University is helping 15 Benton Harbor High School graduates from the class of 2012 to afford college. They are sharing one-point-seven million dollars in scholarships from the school, and there will now be 40 grads from Benton Harbor at Texas Southern this fall. The school's president is Benton Harbor alumnus John Rudley, who was part of the Tigers' state championship basketball teams in 1964 and 1965. Superintendent Dr. Leonard Seawood says the school board will likely hold a special meeting this summer to honor those who are receiving the scholarships. Six students are being recognized for grad point averages of at least 3.5, and another six received the John M. Rudley Scholarship given by the president himself.
