More than $54,000 in grants have been awarded this week to 35-area non-profit organizations by "The Heart of Cook." A reception took place Wednesday at Indiana Michigan Power's Cook Nuclear Plant. The grant program is a charitable foundation of the Cook Nuclear Plant. There was over $300,000 in grant requests this year, from 69 organizations. The Heart of Cook is administered by the Berrien Community Foundation. A committee made up of Cook Nuclear Plant employees reviews all of the grant applications and makes decisions. Grant applications for 2015 will be available sometime in January through the Berrien Community Foundation at www.berriencommunity.org.
