'Selfie' Assists In Conviction

"Thievery and lies will get you nowhere fast in Cass County." Those are the words of Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz after this week's decision of Dominque Goodwin of Elkhart, Indiana being found guilty of home invasion charges. The 19-year old and two others broke into a residence in the Edwardsburg area back in April, but the homeowner caught them in the act and scared them away. The group's red SUV was found abandoned at a nearby gas station. Police later discovered the group walking through a corn field. Goodwin denied connection to the crime or being in the SUV. He made up three different stories pleading his innocence. Though, left behind in the getaway vehicle was a cell phone which contained a ‘selfie’ of Goodwin. The defendant faces up to a 15 year in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for August 1.
